Billing & Insurance

Billing & Insurance

Thank you for your interest in assessment and/or therapy services at the TAP Clinic!

Please read below to better understand our billing policies and fees.

Fees for Services

When you initiate the onboarding process for an intake at TAP, our administrative staff will provide you with exact fees for services by sending you our current fee schedule. Additionally, this information will be reviewed during Intake 1 with your intake coordinator. (For more on our specialist intake model, click here!)

Please be sure to let both the administrative staff and your intake coordinator know if you will need to discuss sliding scale options for intakes or treatment. This is very important to allow us to confirm that we have a sliding scale spot open and exactly what sliding scale fee we could offer.

Estimated Fees:

Below are estimates for services, though may not be exact. Please confirm the fee schedule with our Administrative Team for the fees that are most relevant to your care.

Intake sessions (50-55 mins):                                                       $200- $250 per intake
Individual therapy (45-50 mins):                                                  $160- $225 per session
Couples, family or parenting sessions (50 minutes):              $160- $225 per session
Group therapies (60-120 minutes):                                              $60- $120 per group

Assessments (varies in length depending on assessment)    ~$225 per hour

We will do our best to provide you with estimated costs at both the outset and throughout the process. As many of our services are ongoing rather than one-time billing events, we encourage you to have periodic discussions with your providers to assess and reassess the estimated costs of your services. If you have questions about the estimated cost of services at any time in your treatment, please discuss this directly with your provider(s).

What It Means to be Out-Of-Network with Insurance

The TAP Clinic has spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of insurance panels and has mindfully decided not to partner with any insurance. We believe this allows our providers to offer the best empirically-supported treatment possible to our clients. We realize that this has ramifications for our potential clients and this decision was not taken lightly. Our intake team and providers are happy to provide you with our rationale for remaining out of network and what factors led to that decision.

As a result, the TAP Clinic and all of its providers are out-of-network with all insurance providers. This means is that we do not contract or collaborate with any insurance companies or insurance plans directly. All fees for services at the TAP Clinic must be paid out-of-pocket and will be charged to your credit card on file at the time of the service. It is possible to submit a claim to your insurance carrier and potentially qualify for reimbursement for services received at TAP, however we are unable to directly help you with this process. We recommend that you contact your insurance company to get more information about their reimbursement policies to understand whether this might be an option for you. It can be helpful to ask about deductibles, coverage rates for each therapy code, and percentage of fees that will be covered out-of network.

If you plan to submit a claim to your insurance carrier, you will need to access your Superbill in your patient portal, which will have all the required information included. Please see the Get To Know Your Superbill below for more information.

Medicaid and Medicare:

As with all other insurance carriers, the TAP Clinic and all of its providers are out-of-network with both Medicare and Medicaid. Unlike private insurance carriers, Medicare and Medicaid will only offer reimbursement for providers who are within their network. Therefore, you will not be able to file for any reimbursement for services provided at the TAP Clinic through either Medicare or Medicaid.

Sliding Scale Fees

We do have sliding scale fee options available at TAP based on your current financial circumstances. The availability of sliding scale spots will vary by provider and by group. The largest number of sliding scale spots are with one of our highly skilled trainees. Licensed providers do have sliding scale spots as well, but these are fewer in number.

Please let the administrative staff and your intake coordinator know if you require a sliding scale option. We will let you know if a spot is available, as well as what fee range we may be able to offer and you can determine whether that fits your financial needs. Please note that we do not maintain a waitlist for sliding scale services as it can be very difficult to determine when the next spot will be available.

Your Superbill

Your Superbill is a specific type of invoice you will receive that itemizes all services received at TAP. It is a more detailed bill than what you would receive via your credit card and it contains all of the important information you need to be able to file for insurance reimbursement.

At TAP, your Superbill will be uploaded directly into your patient portal at the beginning of each month and include all services received in the prior month. All the information you will need when speaking to your insurance carrier about submitting a claim is included in the Superbill. There is no additional information that your insurance provider should require than what can be found on your Superbill. If you need help logging into your patient portal, please contact the administrative staff.
