Why TAP?
We understand that you have options for where to find your next therapist and we want to make sure we are the right clinic to get you what you need. The specialty care offered at the TAP Clinic is based on a foundation of expertise as well as fit. We hope that you will take a few minutes to read more below about what we offer and learn more here about what makes us different from other practices.
Intake & Billing Processes
The TAP Clinic has two important attributes that are important for all prospective clinical patients to know about. The first is that we are out-of-network with all insurance. This means that we do not directly accept insurance payments, nor do we file them on your behalf. While it is possible that you will be able to receive reimbursement for our services, that is something that you will negotiate with your insurance provider directly. To learn more about insurance, our fees, and how to file for out-of-network benefits, click here.
Secondly, as a specialty clinic, we have a two-part intake process. The first intake is likely to be with an intake coordinator whose specialty area is an ability to assess your fit for services here at TAP and best match you with the provider that can best help. To understand more about this process and why we think it helps, click here.
Assessment and Conceptualization
As a specialty clinic, we immensely value assessment and conceptualization. These two pre-interventions allow clients and providers to best understand the symptoms or concerns, as well as how best (and most efficiently) to intervene to produce relief or change.
We have an ever-growing assessment program that offers psychodiagnostic assessments, psychoeducational testing, and clinical conceptualization to clients and their families. To learn more about these programs, please click here.
What We Treat
The TAP Clinic is a specialty, rather than a generalist, clinic. This means that our providers have extensive training and experience in a few specific areas. Consistent with the specialist model, there are a limited amount of concerns that we treat. As a result, we put great emphasis on our intake process where we confirm that we are the best fit for your needs. Please select the age group below to learn more about what we treat.
There are also presentations that are not within our area of specialty (and therefore not listed here). We believe this is part of the specialty model and will refer out for presentations or concerns where we do not feel expert or believe that our colleagues in the community are a better fit for your needs.
How We Treat
Empirically supported treatments (ESTs) are at the core of clinical services at the TAP Clinic. ESTs are treatments that have been extensively researched to understand how they work, what symptoms or behaviors they impact, and who benefits most from the interventions. As specialists from science-practitioner training programs, our training and comfort are in interventions that have both empirical support (from research) and clinical support (from provider and client experience).
